Vision

Charting a brighter future for Shaler Township

Community Growth

Every voice matters. I want you to know you have a place and part in Shaler Township’s growth; I encourage the whole community to participate in the process.

I think we can build on the great things the Township already has as we plan the “next steps” together. I don’t have all of the answers. None of us do. But, when we come together with other community members and with some certified planners, we can begin the work of envisioning Shaler Township’s future.

Small Business Growth

Crafting a Tailored Blueprint for Shaler Township’s Tomorrow

This pic was taken inside Acrospire Brewing, another local small business that got its start recently. It’s this sort of small business growth I’d like to see: locally-owned. Because when your family lives near your business, you have a vested interest in helping your community grow.

Sustainable Projects

Require Careful Planning

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a commitment to our neighbors. My vision includes environmentally-conscious development that preserves Shaler Township’s natural beauty, protects our neighborhoods from flooding, landslides, and other disasters, while accommodating our growth.

“Hey, that’s a picture in Lewisburg, not Shaler Township!”

It is. I’ve traveled to many places and am always discovering great projects in other communities. Though I’ve learned a great deal from our neighbors here, I’ve studied many projects outside of our region. This mixed use project in Lewisburg combines environmental floodplain restoration, a mixed-use path, and a community-sustaining park all in one project.

How on earth did they afford the $1.4 Million project? Grants from DCED, PennDOT, PA DCNR, and local matches.

There are lots of grants and funding available for communities who engage in environmental, community, and mobility projects – but you have to decide to get to work.
